I CANNOT believe half the year  is gone already!!!

Seniors:  Gear up for research papers!  As soon as we are done with Frankenstein, we will be starting!!!  You must do one to pass….it is crucial!   I’ll walk you through it, so you shouldn’t have any trouble!!!  Don’t dread it.  I’ll try to ease you into it, and you need to know how to do it for college, anyway!!!

9th graders:  Now is the time to make up for what you did NOT do last semester!  Work hard, improve those grades, learn something, and make me happy!!!

Happy 2nd Semester!!!! It’ll go by fast, and the sweet summertime will be here before you know it!!!

Kiddos,

If you are missing ANY assignment/test for me, you must make it up THIS WEEK, or you will have a zero for each grade you are missing!!!  This will seriously kill some of your grades, so DO NOT let this week go by without doing the work you should have already done. You are responsible for your own grade…not me, not momma, not daddy, not Mr. Ellis…ONLY YOU!!!  Take responsibility for yourself!!!

Post one clear difference between the Beowulf that we read in your literature books and the film version we have been watching in class.  Be sure to address both versions of the story in your answer, and include both your first and last names when you post so I know who you are!!!

Example: Beowulf is portrayed in the story as honest, moral, and ethical (some of the classic characteristics of an epic hero).  In the film, he likes to exaggerate, and he lies to cover up the fact that he has not actually killed Grendel’s mother.

Come up with some more….and you can’t use my example!!!  :)

I told you to check out my blog…your first BONUS opportunity!

Okay, guys and gals! All you have to do to get an extra point on your Alma Mater quiz this Friday is respond the following question by posting a reply:

What is your absolute favorite book of all time?  And you won’t get credit if you say “nothing” or “I don’t read.”  You have to have read at least one book (even if a teacher made you) that you liked at least a little bit.

I’ll start!!! My absolute favorite book of all time is any one of the Harry Potter books!  I’m on the fifth book right now, and I can’t put it down!

Okay…..your turn…..GO!!!

I am thrilled you stopped by to take a look at my blog!  This is the place to be if you have questions about my classes!  You’ll be able to directly post comments and questions about the activities and assignments we do in class, and you’ll be able to keep up with work you missed if you were absent.  What a great way to communicate!  Keep checking back here for new things!  While you are here, take a moment to reply to this post with a comment.  You will not be able to see this comment immediately, because I will have to approve it first.  After you post a comment, explore a little bit so that you know how to navigate my blog.  Come back to it often throughout the year, and encourage your parents to use it, also!  I’m looking forward to a great year with you!!!
